Advocacy: Learn the basics of advocacy and how patients and survivors can make a difference in their lives and the lives of others affected by cancer.
Brain Tumor I: Navigating the Education and EmploymentMaze: This session will provide practical tipsand information on working with a college disabilityoffice, using vocational rehab and what to look for andexpect in the employment arena.
Brain Tumor II: Letting Go and Moving Forward: Thissession will discuss transitioning into independent living and thechallenges faced by both the survivor and the parent.
Education: This session will provide valuable information to childhoodcancer survivors and patients on making the transition backto school as smooth as possible.
Employment: This session will provide practical advice on issuessuch as disclosing one’s cancer history during interviews and work,as well as how to deal with discrimination and legal protections.
Family Relationships: This session will explore changing familyroles, relationships and communication as young adult survivorsdefine their independence.
Fertility Concerns: Attendees will learn about risks for infertility,parenting options and available resources.
Health Insurance & Legal Protections: This session will focus onissues related to health insurance and the importance of coveragethroughout the continuum of cancer care.
Intimacy & Sexuality: Survivors will discuss intimate relationships,feelings of social isolation and the impact of cancer treatmenton the body.
Peer Relationships: This session will focus on peer relationshipsand how the cancer experience can influence survivor social interactions.
